After applying for Estonian e-Residency, your application will be reviewed and processed by the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board (PBGB). This usually takes up to 30 days. Once approved, your digital ID card will be printed and sent to your chosen pickup location within 2-5 weeks.
This article explains each stage of the application review, typical processing times, and answers common questions until you can collect your card.
Track your application status
You can follow the progress of your application in the Police and Border Guard Board (PBGB) application environment.
There you may see 3 different statuses:
- Your application has been received and is under review
- Your application has deficiencies or additional information is expected from you by dd.mm.yyyy
- A decision has been made on your application
All official communication is sent by email. Check your spam folders regularly to avoid missing important messages.
If you have any concerns about your application, contact PBGB directly at ppa@politsei.ee. Be sure to include your full name and date of birth or application number. The e-Residency team cannot access the PBGB application environment, so only PBGB can answer questions about your application.
Track the delivery of your e-Residency digital ID card
If your application is approved, you will receive two emails:
- An approval email from the PBGB.
- A welcome email from the e-Residency team with instructions to log in to My e-Residency.
In My e-Residency you can
- Track the delivery of your e-Residency digital ID card.
- Access services such as guided company registration.
Delivery tracking shows three possible statuses:
- You card is on it's way.
- Your card has arrived.
- Card is ready for use.
Collection details, including how to book an appointment, will always be sent to you by email. This typically happens within 2 - 5 weeks after PBGB approves your application.
If you have chosen a mobile pickup point, you will receive email prior to the mission date in a timely manner. Be sure to check your spam folders.
If you have concerns or questions regarding the delivery or collection of your e-Residency digital ID card, contact your chosen pickup location directly.
Collect your card
Processing times and delivery may vary depending on your chosen pickup location and individual background checks. These steps are part of ensuring the security and trust that define Estonia's digital environment.
For the most accurate updates, always follow the instructions sent by the Police and Border Guard Board (PBGB).
