Pickup location FAQ

Find out how to choose or change your e-Residency pickup location. This article explains pickup options, what to consider before selecting one, and how to request changes if needed.

When and how you choose your pickup location

You will select your pickup location during the e-Residency application process.

The full process - from submitting your application to being able to collect your digital ID card - usually takes 6–8 weeks. After that, you'll have 6 months to collect your card from the selected pickup location.

Choose your pickup location wisely, especially if you’ll need to travel. Changing it later is possible, but not recommended due to extra fees and delays.

What is a pickup location

Pickup locations are official sites where you collect your e-Residency digital ID card in person.

You can choose from:

• Estonian embassies and consulates
• Estonian Police and Border Guard Board (PBGB) service points in Estonia

• Mobile pickup points - temporary missions organised by Estonian consuls or PBGB officials in select cities around the world

No pickup location in your country?
You can still apply for e-Residency by selecting a pickup location that’s convenient for you to travel to. Keep in mind:

• You must travel there within 6 months after your kit arrives
• Collection of the e-Residency digital ID does not grant entry rights, so check visa requirements and arrange any necessary travel documents in advance. 

How to change your pickup location

Changing your pickup location is possible, but should only be done when necessary. It: 

• will delay the arrival of your card
• requires payment of a state fee
• does not extend the 6-month deadline for collection

If you do need to change your pickup location, follow the instructions below based on on your current status.

If your application is still in review

Email the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board at ppa@politsei.ee with:

• Subject: Changing e-Residency digital ID pickup location (or similar)
• your full name
• date of birth or application number
• your new pickup location (choose from the official list).
• proof of payment of the state fee

State fee of €10 must be paid before the change can be initiated.  To pay the state fee, you must indicate a correct reference number. Reference number for this is 2900082443 – identity documents, Estonian citizenship, residence permits, rights of residence, short-term employment and extension of period of stay.

If you've already received your  approval

And your pickup location was a PBGB service point in Estonia 

Email the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board at ppa@politsei.ee with:

• Subject: Changing e-Residency digital ID pickup location (or similar)
• your full name
• date of birth or application number
• your new pickup location (choose from the official list).
• proof of payment of the state fee

State fee of €10 must be paid before the change can be initiated.  To pay the state fee, you must indicate a correct reference number. Reference number for this is 2900082443 – identity documents, Estonian citizenship, residence permits, rights of residence, short-term employment and extension of period of stay.

And you pickup location was an Estonian embassy

Email the Estonian embassy you chose as your pick-up location with 

• Subject: Changing e-Residency digital ID pickup location (or similar)
• your full name
• date of birth or Estonian personal code
• your new pickup location (choose from the official list)
• proof of payment of the state fee

And your pickup location was a mobile pickup point

Email the Mobile pickup point with

• Subject: Changing e-Residency digital ID pickup location (or similar)
• your full name
• date of birth or Estonian personal code
• your new pickup location (choose from the official list)
• proof of payment of the state fee

See from the Mobile pickup point  list, whether your initial pickup location is carried about by Police and Border Guard Board / PBGB service point (contact is ppa@politsei.ee )  or Estonian embassy (contact ends with @mfa.ee) and use payment instructions accordingly.
