Pickup locations + FAQ

During the application process, you must select a pickup location. You can see a list of all pickup locations to find one most convenient to your location.

  • After your application has been approved, it can take 2-5 weeks for your e-Residency kit to arrive at your pickup location.
  • Once it has arrived, your pickup location will send instructions related to scheduling your pick up. We recommend you wait to plan any travel until this time.
    • We recommend checking your spam mailbox as well, as depending on your inbox settings, automated notifications from the embassies may end up there.
  • You will need to pick up your e-Residency kit, in person, within six months.

You can pick up your e-Residency digital ID card abroad from an Estonian embassy, consulate or other official pick-up location.

They can answer questions like:

  • Has my e-Residency kit arrived at a pickup location and is it ready for collection?
  • How do I schedule a time to pick up my e-Residency kit?
  • How can I change a pickup location?
  • Is it possible to extend the collection period?

Pick-up FAQ

Can someone else pick up my card?
No. You will need to collect your document in person as your fingerprints are required. It is not possible to give someone else the power of attorney to collect your document. It is also not possible to give your fingerprints at another time.
E-Residency was granted but I haven't heard anything since
Pickup locations send email notifications when the document has arrived (in general within 2-5 weeks after e-Residency has been granted). Sometimes these notifications go into spam mailbox, please check. You can also contact the pickup location directly. For pickup location contact information, please see this list.
Can you send my e-Residency kit by mail?
No. You will need to physically collect your document from one of the available pickup locations. Part of the collection process is the identification of the user of the document. Your document is given to you with PIN codes and you should never give your e-Residency card or PIN codes to third parties.
Can honorary consuls issue my e-Residency kit?
No. E-Residency digital ID cards can only be issued by the official embassies and pickup locations listed on the application. Honorary consuls or other embassies representing Estonia can not issue e-Residency cards.
Can I change the pickup location?

In most cases, though this is not encouraged. Additional time will be needed to re-route your document to the new location. Additionally, a change fee will need to be paid. This will not be a solution to prolong the 6 months timeframe for collection. For the pricing, please check the following information.

If you wish to change the pickup location from a service point in Estonia to an Estonian embassy, forward your application details, including your full name and date of birth, and the new location request to the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board at ppa@politsei.ee. They are the issuing authority and will be able to redirect your card.

In order to change the pickup location from one embassy to another embassy, contact the Estonian embassy you chose as your pick-up location (contacts are available here) with your application details and request to change the pickup location. On the request, the new location must be indicated.

If you wish to change the pickup location before you have received e-Residency granted email from the Police and Border Guard Board, contact the Police and Border Guard Board first at ppa@politsei.ee 

What if there is no pickup location in my country?
You will need to choose a pickup location in another country. Please keep in mind, once your e-Residency kit has arrived at your pickup location, you will need to collect it within 6 months. In many cases, your e-Residency kit is available for collection 6-8 weeks after you have submitted your application.
I am unable to pick up my e-Residency kit within 6 months.
If you have not shown interest in collecting your e-Residency kit within 6 months, it will be returned to Estonia and destroyed. If you still desire e-Residency, you will need to apply again.
